Two Mountain Spirits · Cloud Deer

Forms rise from the mountain; spirits emerge from imagination. Two Mountain Spirits · Cloud Deer uses colored brass. A slender deer stands along the left rim, its antlers branching upward. Pale clouds above and a low rock below balance the right side. The shared original softly rounded shield-oval outline, broad rounded crown and gently rounded lower point, thin warm-brass rim gathers the composition. Deep-brown colored brass with warm-brass relief and restrained silver-white accents is shaped by fine lines and shallow relief. Fine antler branches at the upper right and a small cloud at the lower left continue the lightness. Black wrapping, ivory diamond windows and coordinated fittings connect the two faces. Each has its own balance of detail and open space, while sharing the material, palette and decorative language of Two Mountain Spirits.
