Four Ocean Tides · Rising Tide

Tides rise and fall; water finds its own form. Four Ocean Tides · Rising Tide uses colored brass. A curling wave rises along the right rim. Warm brass touches its crest, while fine currents below lead toward the open upper left. The shared original softly scalloped wave-circle outline with four very broad shallow wave lobes, smooth thin rim gathers the composition. Graphite-black colored brass with restrained warm-brass accents is shaped by fine lines and shallow relief. Low waves at the lower left and a small drop at the upper right simplify the reverse. Black wrapping, ivory diamond windows and coordinated fittings connect the two faces. Each has its own balance of detail and open space, while sharing the material, palette and decorative language of Four Ocean Tides.
