Two Scholars Rocks · Standing Peak

Rocks lie or rise; open space gives each a different setting. Two Scholars Rocks · Standing Peak uses natural brass. A slender rock rises along the right rim, with channels and angular ridges gathering toward its peak. A flat stone below left contrasts with the open field. The shared slightly tall rounded rectangular outline, softly rounded corners, single fine inner border, thin smooth rim gathers the composition. Warm natural brass throughout is shaped by fine lines and shallow relief. Vertical rock grain at the lower left and a small flat stone at the upper right echo the front. Black wrapping, ivory diamond windows and coordinated fittings connect the two faces. Each has its own balance of detail and open space, while sharing the material, palette and decorative language of Two Scholars Rocks.
