Celestial Steed · Crossing the Ridge

A journey among clouds, with a scene in every step. Celestial Steed · Crossing the Ridge uses navy-blue colored brass, fine warm-brass lines and shallow relief. A thin four-lobed mokko rim echoes the continuous cloud ribbon below. A horse leaps diagonally upward along the right rim, with its two forelegs gathered and its two hindlegs extended behind. A short ridge at lower left and the cloud ribbon below leave room for its passage. A plain central field and single tapered aperture give the horse and clouds room to unfold. The reverse retains one short ridge at upper left and one small cloud at lower right. Black wrapping, ivory diamond windows and plain warm-brass fittings continue the collection’s shared material and ornament.
