One koi rises; the other follows the current. Two Koi Currents · With the Current uses colored brass. A koi follows the water down the left rim, its tail opening upward as currents on the right create a gentle turn. The shared slightly elongated oval outline, smooth thin rim with two fine warm-brass end bands gathers the composition. Graphite-black colored brass with restrained warm-brass accents is shaped by fine lines and shallow relief. Water lines at the upper right and fine fin veins at the lower left continue its movement. Black wrapping, ivory diamond windows and coordinated fittings connect the two faces. Each has its own balance of detail and open space, while sharing the material, palette and decorative language of Two Koi Currents.
