Celestial Steed · Treading Snow

A journey among clouds, with a scene in every step. Celestial Steed · Treading Snow uses navy-blue colored brass, fine warm-brass lines and shallow relief. A thin four-lobed mokko rim echoes the continuous cloud ribbon below. A horse walks right along the upper arc with its head slightly lowered and its four legs staggered. Two small snow rosettes at lower left and the continuous cloud ribbon below create an open winter scene. A plain central field and single tapered aperture give the horse and clouds room to unfold. The reverse retains two small snow rosettes at upper left and one short wind line at lower right. Black wrapping, ivory diamond windows and plain warm-brass fittings continue the collection’s shared material and ornament.
