One koi rises; the other follows the current. Two Koi Currents · Against the Wave uses colored brass. A koi rises along the right rim, its head lifted above a curled tail and shallow waves opposite. The shared slightly elongated oval outline, smooth thin rim with two fine warm-brass end bands gathers the composition. Graphite-black colored brass with restrained warm-brass accents is shaped by fine lines and shallow relief. A scale fragment at the upper left and water lines at the lower right echo the front. Black wrapping, ivory diamond windows and coordinated fittings connect the two faces. Each has its own balance of detail and open space, while sharing the material, palette and decorative language of Two Koi Currents.
