Tides rise and fall; water finds its own form. Four Ocean Tides · Layered Surf uses colored brass. Three long waves move diagonally from the lower right toward the upper left. Small warm-brass highlights pick out their crests, leaving the upper right clear. The shared original softly scalloped wave-circle outline with four very broad shallow wave lobes, smooth thin rim gathers the composition. Graphite-black colored brass with restrained warm-brass accents is shaped by fine lines and shallow relief. Two waves at the lower right and a warm-brass crest at the upper left remain. Black wrapping, ivory diamond windows and coordinated fittings connect the two faces. Each has its own balance of detail and open space, while sharing the material, palette and decorative language of Four Ocean Tides.
