Tides rise and fall; water finds its own form. Four Ocean Tides · Tide at Rest uses colored brass. Four shallow ripples spread along the lower edge, beside a small stone at the lower right. A fine warm-brass edge answers the open upper field. The shared original softly scalloped wave-circle outline with four very broad shallow wave lobes, smooth thin rim gathers the composition. Graphite-black colored brass with restrained warm-brass accents is shaped by fine lines and shallow relief. Only light ripples at the upper left and a small stone at the lower right remain. Black wrapping, ivory diamond windows and coordinated fittings connect the two faces. Each has its own balance of detail and open space, while sharing the material, palette and decorative language of Four Ocean Tides.
