Three River Boats · Boat by the Reeds

A small boat, a long expanse of water. Three River Boats · Boat by the Reeds uses colored brass. An empty skiff rests at the lower left, beside three reeds rising from the bank. Fine shoreline strokes meet a pale ripple. The shared rounded rectangular outline slightly taller than wide, fine inner border, thin warm-brass rim gathers the composition. Deep-brown colored brass with warm-brass relief and restrained silver-white accents is shaped by fine lines and shallow relief. A short reed at the upper right and two pale water lines at the lower left simplify the reverse. Black wrapping, ivory diamond windows and coordinated fittings connect the two faces. Each has its own balance of detail and open space, while sharing the material, palette and decorative language of Three River Boats.
