Eighteen Arhats

Eighteen postures, held within one circular world.

Eighteen Arhats connects eighteen figurative tsuba designs through a shared round outline, graphite-black colored brass and restrained warm-brass-colored accents. Dragon Tamer and Tiger Tamer pair figures with their animal companions, while Pagoda Bearer and Bowl Bearer find their focal points in the objects they hold. Meditation, contemplation and stretching give other members distinct gestures of their own.

Robe folds, clouds, rocks and water run through the collection, while each face and scene develops separately. Every design has its own name and shares a common palette and decorative language with the other seventeen.

Eighteen expressions, each with a world of its own.
