Sacred Deer · Stepping Through Mist

A deer enters the grove, with lingzhi close by. Sacred Deer · Stepping Through Mist uses tea-brown colored brass, fine warm-brass lines and restrained shallow relief, with woodland motifs enclosed by a thin round rim. A deer makes a light leap along the upper-right arc, its head turned toward the upper left and its four legs extended fore and aft. A small cloud at lower left and a lingzhi at lower right suggest layers of mountain mist. A plain central field and single tapered aperture give the deer, antlers and lingzhi room to unfold. The reverse retains one small cloud at upper left and one small lingzhi at lower right. Black wrapping, ivory diamond windows and plain warm-brass fittings continue the collection’s shared material and ornament.
