Sacred Deer and Lingzhi
A deer enters the grove, with lingzhi close by.
Sacred Deer and Lingzhi connects Bearing Lingzhi, Returning to the Grove, Drinking From the Spring, Resting Beneath Pines, Stepping Through Mist and Gazing at the Moon through tea-brown colored brass, thin round rims and fine warm-brass lines. Antlers unfold in fine lines, while deer and lingzhi retain restrained shallow relief. Carrying, walking, drinking, resting, leaping and looking upward give the six designs different scenes.
Each primary face holds its own setting. Simpler reverses retain lingzhi, pine, water, slopes, grasses or a crescent. A plain central field and a single tapered aperture give the woodland ornament and open space room to balance.
