Sacred Deer · Returning to the Grove
A deer enters the grove, with lingzhi close by. Sacred Deer · Returning to the Grove uses tea-brown colored brass, fine warm-brass lines and restrained shallow relief, with woodland motifs enclosed by a thin round rim. A deer walks right along the upper arc and turns its head back toward the left, holding a single lingzhi. A fine pine sprig at lower right and a short slope at lower left frame its return to the grove. A plain central field and single tapered aperture give the deer, antlers and lingzhi room to unfold. The reverse retains one fine pine sprig at upper left and one small lingzhi at lower right. Black wrapping, ivory diamond windows and plain warm-brass fittings continue the collection’s shared material and ornament.
