Serpent Moon · Renewing Scales
The moon rests in open space; the serpent moves through curves. Serpent Moon · Renewing Scales uses emerald-green colored brass, fine warm-brass scales and restrained shallow relief. A thin upright elliptical rim frames the quiet moonlit field. One serpent extends across the upper arc with its head facing left and its tail turning down the right rim. A gradual shift from fine scales near the head to wider spacing behind suggests renewal, answered by a crescent at lower right. A plain central field and single tapered aperture bring out the changing rhythm of the serpent’s curve. The reverse retains one small contiguous patch of scale engraving at upper left and one slim crescent at lower right. Black wrapping, ivory diamond windows and plain warm-brass fittings continue the collection’s shared material and ornament.
