Serpents Beneath the Crescent

The moon rests in open space; the serpent moves through curves.

Serpents Beneath the Crescent connects Encircling the Moon, Hidden Among Bamboo, Renewing Scales, Beside Still Water and Coiled on Stone through emerald-green colored brass, thin elliptical rims and fine warm-brass scales. Each primary face retains one complete serpent and one slim crescent, with different scenes shaped by its curve, movement, scale spacing, lowered head or loose coil.

Bamboo, water and stone remain sparse companions. Simpler reverses retain a crescent, bamboo leaves, water, scales or a rock contour. A single central aperture and plain mounting field give the serpent and open space room to balance.
