Serpent Moon · Encircling the Moon

The moon rests in open space; the serpent moves through curves. Serpent Moon · Encircling the Moon uses emerald-green colored brass, fine warm-brass scales and restrained shallow relief. A thin upright elliptical rim frames the quiet moonlit field. A serpent curves along the upper and left rim, lifting its head at upper left and tapering its tail toward lower left. A slim crescent at upper right balances the plain central field. A plain central field and single tapered aperture bring out the changing rhythm of the serpent’s curve. The reverse retains one slim crescent at upper left and two short curves at lower right. Black wrapping, ivory diamond windows and plain warm-brass fittings continue the collection’s shared material and ornament.
