Serpent Moon · Hidden Among Bamboo
The moon rests in open space; the serpent moves through curves. Serpent Moon · Hidden Among Bamboo uses emerald-green colored brass, fine warm-brass scales and restrained shallow relief. A thin upright elliptical rim frames the quiet moonlit field. A serpent forms a gentle S along the right rim, its head facing upper right and its tail tapering below. A fine three-leaf bamboo sprig at left and a crescent above leave an open woodland field. A plain central field and single tapered aperture bring out the changing rhythm of the serpent’s curve. The reverse retains one fine three-leaf bamboo sprig at upper left and one slim crescent at lower right. Black wrapping, ivory diamond windows and plain warm-brass fittings continue the collection’s shared material and ornament.
