Mountains and seas take form; wondrous creatures enter the guard. Beasts of Mountains and Seas · Nine Tails in the Mist uses an upright oval outline and black-brown colored brass. Warm-brass lines and small silver-white and muted red details continue the collection’s shared material direction. The nine-tailed fox reclines at upper left and turns its head toward the right. Nine separate tail tips spread along the right rim, with two curls of mountain mist below and a clear mounting field at the center. Shallow relief surrounds a single central aperture, with the whole composition enclosed by a plain thin rim. The reverse retains one short mist curl at upper left and three small tail-like arcs at lower right. Black wrapping, ivory diamond windows and plain warm-brass fittings echo one another.
